![]() 1960's Brother's Mark and Tony were your typical grommies, hanging out at the beach everyday getting a ride on any board they could. In 63 their old man bought them their first board to share. It was a 9'6" Gordon Woods with a D fin bigger than both of them. It took the whole family to carry the thing to the beach, but once it was in the water it didn't come out all day. The boys were trimmin. It cost $5.
![]() 1970's Tony did the uni scene then got himself a job at BHP steelworks in Newcastle. He wasn't into that so he went to Bali. On one of his walks through the local markets he found some traditionally hand woven fabrics. He bought just enough to have some shirts and boardies made for himself. Tony didn't realise the magnitude of what he had just started. When he returned to Australia he wore his newly created threads everywhere. He was partying hard before the dreaded return to work. Everyone he knew was asking him where to get these new clothes he had and the orders started rolling in. Tony saw the opportunity to return to paradise and make some money when he returned. He bailed on BHP, enlisted his brother and went surfing. Between surfs they were blending modern flare with ancient traditions to produce the the finest quality clothing around. The thing was, it was made for them and their mates. This was the begining of surfwear. Tony remembered what started it all. Those swell lines rolling onto Kuta Reef blowing barrels in the sun. KUTA LINES was born. ![]() 1980's Suddenly this surfing game was getting serious. The industry was booming and Kuta Lines grew from strength to strength.
